Mr. Tad Jacobson, Principal

Tad Jacobson

Mr. Jacobson was born and raised in Safford graduating from SHS in 1994. Upon graduation, he entered the workforce and had various jobs including an apprenticeship as a powerline apprentice at the Morenci mine. It was through these experiences, along with being able to volunteer as a boys basketball coach, that he decided to pursue a career in teaching. 

In 2004 he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies and began his teaching career in Ft. Thomas. There he taught Junior High school Science and coached Football, Basketball and Baseball.  He also coached Volleyball and Softball for the high school. At Ft. Thomas he enjoyed learning more about the Apache culture and juggling his many coaching duties.

In 2005 Mr. Jacobson was offered an opportunity to return to SHS to be a Head Coach and teach Social Studies. From 2005 to 2018 he coached JV Baseball, Tennis, Softball and Boys & Girls basketball. He was fortunate to coach some talented students and receive several region and state recognitions for his teams' success.

The year 2018, took Mr. Jacobson to Benson High School as he took the role of Athletic Director and Assistant Principal. In the 2 years he was there, he learned how to plan and execute student athletics and activities as well as handling the discipline for the high school.

In the fall of 2020, Mr. Jacobson returned to SHS as the Assistant Principal. He worked in the capacity until March 2022. In March 2022 he became the Interim Principal until July 2022 when he assumed the duty as Principal of SHS. Mr. Jacobson has started many new programs at SHS to give students as many options as possible to find success.

Mr. Sean Crockett, Assistant Principal

Sean Crockett


Mr. Crockett grew up in Southeastern Arizona in the nearby town of Pima. He graduated from Pima High School in 2007. After graduating from Eastern Arizona College and starting a family, he began a career in structural firefighting for the city of Farmington, NM.

In 2017, Mr. Crockett and his young family moved back to the Gily Valley where he started the secondary education program through ASU at EAC. The semester before he graduated, he was hired at Safford High School as a long-term substitute English teacher. He graduated from ASU in December of 2019, and became a full-time teacher in January of 2020.

In January of 2022, Mr. Crockett started the Educational Leadership Program through Western New Mexico University. He accepted the position of Dean of Students at Safford High School in the fall of 2022. He loves Safford High School, its students, and this community.

When not at school or being part of SHS events, Mr. Crockett loves spending time with his beautiful wife and four amazing children. Go Bulldogs!
